What is the best care home in the UK?

There isn’t one universally “best” care home in the UK because the right choice depends on the level of care needed — residential care, dementia care, nursing care, luxury living, or specialist medical support.

That said, several homes and care groups are consistently rated among the UK’s best based on:

• CQC (“Outstanding” or “Good”) ratings
• Resident and family reviews
• Staff quality and continuity
• Facilities and activities
• Dementia and nursing expertise
• Safety and cleanliness

Some of the highest-rated and most respected care homes and groups in 2026 include:

• Barchester – Burwood Grange Care Home — widely praised for luxury facilities, nursing care, and resident wellbeing.
• Barchester – Atfield House Care Home — consistently strong family reviews and quality nursing support.
• Westport Care Home — one of the highest-reviewed homes in London with excellent resident feedback.
• Brook House Care Home — highly rated for personalised nursing and dementia care.
• Chestnut Lodge Care Home – Minster Care Group — strong review scores and smaller-home atmosphere.
• Ellesmere House Care Home – Care UK — respected for premium elderly and dementia care in Chelsea.

Among larger providers, Cinnamon Care Collection is frequently recognised as one of the UK’s top-performing care home groups, with exceptionally high CQC and family review ratings.

The UK-wide carehome.co.uk Top 20 Awards are also one of the most trusted rankings because they are based on verified reviews from residents and families rather than advertising.
