In an effort to curb rampant cyber fraud, the government has rolled out the Digital Intelligence Platform, Union Communication Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Wednesday. Among the measures is a Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) software that categorizes fraudulent bank account holders, effectively blocking their transactions.
Scindia highlighted a significant drop in international spoofed calls by 97% as a result of concerted efforts by both the communications and home ministries. The Department of Telecommunications is proactive, disconnecting over 3.57 lakh mobile numbers based on reports from the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
New measures also include an artificial intelligence tool, ASTR, which has identified and disconnected over 82 lakh fraudulent mobile connections. These initiatives aim to strengthen telecom resource security and prevent misuse. Additionally, BSNL and MTNL show signs of recovery with new business plans under development.
