Nagpur: The cyber police on Thursday made fresh arrests in the education scam as more facts related to the preparation of the fake 540 Shalarth IDs came to the fore. The accused are identified as Sagar Bhagole (35) and Bharat Dhawale (54), who are engaged in clerical work. Bhagole worked as a junior clerk, while Dhawale served as head clerk with the education department.Sources stated Bhagole and Dhawale extended assistance to Sunil Magam and Sunil Dhole, whose IP addresses were identified as the ones behind the creation of the fake Shalarth IDs. These IDs were misused by the scamsters to pose as teachers, headmasters, and assistant teachers to pocket substantial salaries and other pay packages at the cost of the state exchequer. The cyber cops have now launched a manhunt for Magam and Dhawale, whose arrests are likely to unearth more details of the scam and lead to the involvement of more persons. The cyber cell is also in the process of sending more summons to education department officials for questioning. Sources stated several top officials of the education department were aware of the scam but remained silent. Several personnel of the Zilla Parishad’s pay and salaries unit are now likely to be placed under arrest for their alleged involvement. The Sadar police, which registered yet another case against the education department officials, also tried to nab an official of joint director rank and another accomplice. Sources from the Sadar police station stated that several suspects filed for anticipatory bail and are playing hide-and-seek with the cops to evade arrest. Several education officials are also not responding to repeated summons being sent to them.
